During the strictly come dancing competition Katie McGlynn hurt her foot by kicking a glass glitterball, during promotional filming for the show. The 28-year-old actress, who is best known for her role as Sinead Tinker on Coronation Street, was supposed to rush up to the glitterball, which she mistook for plastic, and pretended to kick it while wearing high heels that exposed her feet.
However, the Holly oaks actress, who portrays Becky Quentin in the Channel 4 soap, is said to have misinterpreted what the filmmakers were asking and ran up to the glass glitterball, causing it to shatter.
McGlynn later posted a photo to Twitter, mocking reports that she was in pain. She expressed herself like follows: “It’s astonishing how much I learn about myself! During the filming of Strictly, I kicked a prop, resulting in a minor cut. According to a “source,” I was “totally enraged,” “blamed employees,” and was in “serious pain”?!…the cut in question is complete nonsense! In fact, I had a wonderful day.”
“Katie McGlynn received a slight cut to her foot while recording some digital content for Strictly Come Dancing,” a Strictly representative stated. She was treated by the on-site medic, who applied a plaster, and she is in perfect health.”
For her role in Corrie as young mother Sinead Tinker, who died from cervical cancer in 2019, the soap star was nominated for a Bafta and won an NTA. On Saturday, September 18th, the BBC celebrity dancing competition will commence.
BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker, McFly’s Tom Fletcher, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, EastEnders’ Nina Wadia and Rose Ayling-Ellis, and former Bake Off winner John Whaite are among those taking part this year.
Comedian Robert Webb, actor Greg Wise, and Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Tilly are among the celebrities that will compete for the coveted Glitterball trophy. Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Shirley Ballas will return as judges, however Bruno Tonioli will be replaced by Anton Du Beke. Tonioli is unable to participate due to travel issues between the UK and the United States, where he is a judge on Dancing with The Stars, because to the COVID pandemic.
When the show air’s later this month, Katie might be carrying sequins as opposed to a touch screen. She’s been updating her Instagram fans on her expectation for the airing of the series. She shared a photo from the Strictly studios on Friday. “Just a casual pic in THE Tess Daly’s dressing room,” she wrote. “On @bbcstrictly, Day 2.”
She also made a post when it was announced that she would be joining Strictly in August. “Hand me those sequins @bbcstrictly,” she typed in a tweet to her 314,000 followers. I’M NERVOUS AND EXCITED!! But as long as I don’t fall over in the middle of the routine, I’ll be satisfied! And what a lineup we already have… I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and embarking on this crazy adventure with my new Strictly fam. (sic) “Let me know which dance you’d want to see me attempt the most…”
Strictly Come Dancing premieres on BBC One on September 18 with a special premiere program.
