The frost-covered gritted paths were compared to “Blackpool beach” by a WILSDEN man who did a barefoot walk in memory of his stillborn son. Daniel Lee, from Lingfield Grove, Wilsden, showed real ‘grit’ all the way around the eight-mile walk from Wilsden and back last Saturday, which raised more than £2,000 for Tommy’s charity. The charity gave Daniel, his wife Jade McCulloch and their four-year-old son Riley valuable assistance when, on January 23, 2020, the family lost their stillborn son, Tommy Daniel.

“My sibling Ashley strolled with me and wore a Superman outfit and was gathering gifts from individuals in transit around.”The presence of Superman or that is Ashley Lee, who is from Thorpe Edge, ends up being important to Daniel, who said: “I was unable to have done it without him.”

On Tuesday, Daniel, speaking, said: “When I got up on Saturday, there was frost everywhere. “My feet were torn open, and the salt from the grit got into the wounds. It was bad. “It was worth it though,” said Daniel. “Because we raised over £2,000 in just ten days. “I finished the walk in three hours and nine minutes, but in the first 20 minutes my feet began to get cuts on them.

The walk took Daniel from his home in Wilsden, down Haworth Road, on to Sandy Lane, towards Cottingley, Bingley and afterward Harden, before the re-visitation of Wilsden. The course was generally on streets, for certain pathways. Established at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, in 1992, Tommy’s is now the largest UK charity investigating the causes and prevention of complications of pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth and neonatal death.

She said, “It went as well as it could for him,” “His feet are a bit of a mess because it was so frosty and the paths were gritted.” Daniel said. “I’m still picking bits of glass out of my feet,” “I’ve been in bed for two days. I’ve only just started managing to walk today, and that’s with a limp.” The shoeless walk was eight miles in length and began from Daniel’s home in Wilsden. He went down Haworth Road, on to Sandy Lane, down towards Cottingley, up towards Bingley, and afterward Harden and back to Wilsden.

Daniel Lee can be seen in this photo returning back to his family after the long 8 mile barefoot walk. He seems very happy after completing the walk as it is a huge accomplishment for him because the charity for his son means a lot to him in many ways. He has expressed his feelings of joy in the following words “I felt truly pleased when I completed, yet when I returned home I just slammed. It was likewise a significant passionate day” Jade additionally felt glad for Daniel for gutting it out. The walk was generally out and about for certain trails too and took in a variety of surfaces.
