Most kids remember being dragged by their parents to their local Clarke’s to have their feet measured, my experience involved standing with my feet in two metal boxes. The sides moved inward enclosing my feet and tacking the measurement. before fitting by the big machine. Some of the early machines are collectible.
Modern technology has caught up and surprise surprise, Apple are the first to apply their technology to this age old process.
Teaming up with worldwide design technology firm Designworks Windsor Ltd. Clarke’s the largest shoe fitting presence on the high street are rolling out a new device coupled with the Ipad foot gauge.
Just how long this new process takes, if it works correctly will no doubt have been rigorously tested. It’s not been confirmed if customers are able to use there own Ipads but I doubt they will.
Initial worry about breaking your Ipad are unfounded as the Ipad slots device conveniently into the top of the machine to take the measurements whilst the customer stands on the pre-marked plates.
