One of the world’s most impressive female athletes, and certainly one of the best tennis stars of her generation (currently ranked as the number three female tennis player on the planet), Garbine Muguruza was understandably discouraged just a few short days ago when she found herself injured during the Brisbane International tennis tournament.
The latest superstar tennis athlete to be dealt a disastrous injury at this internationally renowned tournament (both Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep had both already pulled out of the Australian Open during warm-ups because of injury), Garbine Muguruza is just 22 years old is just to 22 years old and hadn’t been dealing with any serious injuries leading up to this latest round of tournaments.
Unfortunately, her injuries were so severe and so debilitating that she was forced to retire from the match completely – though she hopes to be able to recover from these injuries expeditiously to get back out onto the court once again.
There are a variety of different issues that may have caused these severe blisters and the major foot industry injury that she has succumbed to, so that the tennis star believes that a switch to new orthotics is the major contributor to these problems.
Apparently, Garbine Muguruza has been at least a little bit nervous about plantar fasciitis flavoring up after she switched to new shoes because of the different surface that the Australian Open is played upon. It appears as though her injury concern was certainly well founded.
Though the young tennis star is sure to get back into action in the near future, it’s unknown whether or not she is going to be able to compete in the Sydney International tournament that rounds out this leg of Australian tennis tournaments.
She’s very hopeful that she’ll be able to compete against some of the world’s best just as soon as she gets this equipment and injury nonsense sorted, though it’s clear now that she isn’t going to be able to compete through the injury as she already tried prior to her removing yourself from competition in the Brisbane games.
It is likely that Garbine Muguruza will pursue the opinion of some of the world’s best sport doctors, and it’s likely that she’s already reached out to members of the Australian for injury community to learn more about how she can prevent these kinds of injuries from happening in the future.
Only time will tell as far as when the number three women’s tennis star in the world will be back on the court, but hopefully it is sooner rather than later.
