It never ceases to amaze us the resilience of some people. None more so than Russian toddler Vasilina Knutzen eating with her feet!
Born without arms this hasn’t held her back, she has learnt to use her feet to skilfully feed herself. Check out the video from the UK Daily Mail.
Vasilina’s mother Elmira took the short video which has since gone viral amassing over 61 million views and bring the story to the mainstream mass media.
Anyone who has tried to feed a toddler will testify that it’s no easy task! Food tends to go everywhere, often with more on the child and surrounding area than in the mouth.
Vasilina is seen carefully positioning her fork using her toes before re-positioning her food to get it in her mouth. Much to the delight of her mother giggling in the background, delighted at her daughters perseverance.
Humans have an incredible ability to overcome often overwhelming disabilities and continue with a relatively normal life.
But is Vasilina’s story a one off?
At star feet this story isn’t unusual to us, we’ve seen many inspiring individuals overcome a lack of arms using their feet to great effect, often skillfully.
Whilst it’s unclear why Vaslina doesn’t have arms, it could be due to the rare congenital condition Phocomelia which is known to cause birth defects including a lack of main limbs.
In another recent post, we shared the amazing story of Getun Tri Aena a the little girl from Jakata who has learnt to play the piano with her feet.
